Camp Oshkidee is currently accepting applications for Camp Cooks + Caretakers to serve for the 2024 Family Camp season!

We are looking for faith-filled individuals with a passion for serving others to join our ministry as Camp Cooks + Caretakers. This is an exciting employment opportunity to earn an income while gaining work experience during the summer months in a Christ-centered, family friendly environment.

CAMP COOK

July + August are dedicated to our Family Camp programs where you will be living and working on site as part of a larger team of staff dedicated to serving the needs of our campers and facilities.

Daily tasks will consume approximately 4-5 hours per day leaving you with plenty of personal time to enjoy all that Oshkidee has to offer including watercraft, hiking trails, fishing, etc. 

TERMS:

Term of Contract: July 4th - August 10th

Salary: $600 / Week

  • Room + Board included

  • Friday from 6:00pm - Sunday 8:00am cooks are free to leave camp.

DUTIES:

  • Familiarize themselves with the policies for kitchen staff.

  • Prepare their assigned part of the menu.

  • Follow the menu and recipes provided.

  • Maintain a neat and sanitary work environment.

  • Work in cooperation with the other cooks to ensure that the meals are ready in a timely manner.

  • Serve food at mealtimes.

  • Provide assistance to the other kitchen staff when needed.

  • Advise the On-Site Food Services Manager of inventory.

SKILLS:

  • Must be 17 years of age.

  • Should possess a Safe Food Handling Certificate - opportunity to attend the course will be provided to all new recruits.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

  • Ability to follow instructions, both written and oral.

ACCOUNTABILITY EXPECTATIONS:

  • Be on site no later than 12:00 pm on the first Saturday of the Camp they are serving. Option to arrive early at the beginning of the Camp season.

  • Attendance is required at all staff meetings.

  • Accountable to the On-Site Food Services Manager.

  • Shall report to the On-Site Food Services Manager in the event of an illness or the need to leave the site.

CARETAKER

May + June would consist of living and working on site independently while performing the daily tasks as Caretaker and also serving as our Lease Host to the various groups who have booked our facilities during those months.

July + August are dedicated to our Family Camp programs where you will be living and working on site as part of a larger team of staff dedicated to serving the needs of our campers and facilities.

Daily tasks will consume approximately 4-5 hours per day leaving you with plenty of personal time to enjoy all that Oshkidee has to offer including watercraft, hiking trails, fishing, etc. 

  • A camp vehicle is available for the use of the caretaker while at camp

  • Experience operating a small tractor / front end loader would be an asset but is not required

TERMS:

Flexible Term of Contract: TBD (approx. mid May to Mid August)

Salary: $600 / Week

  • Room included for May + June

  • Room + Board included for July + August

DUTIES:

  • General daily cleaning of public/common spaces such as washrooms, dining halls and patios

  • General/minimal care of watercraft

  • Daily water testing and garbage removal

  • Corresponding with maintenance crews on all repairs and services

  • Lease Host to our guests who have leased the facility for the months of May + June

    • Opening + closing the facilities for guests

    • Providing a walk through / site tour as needed

    • Answering questions / providing support for any equipment issues or concerns

  • During Family Camp, there are also opportunities to support and volunteer in the Kid or Youth ministries if that is of interest, though it is not expected! 

    Please note: This job does NOT require maintenance of buildings or equipment. However, should the successful applicant be willing, small projects could be identified and assigned.
