FAMILY CAMP VOLUNTEER STAFF APPLICATION
ROLES + RESPONSIBILITIES

PURPOSE:
To lead the camp programs to achieve the mission of Camp.
BENEFITS:
All meals and accommodations provided free of charge
Family Camp registration fees waived for you, your spouse and dependent children ages 0-18 (Any adult children (19+) are welcome to share your accommodations but they must register separately when registration opens to the public and will be subject to the same terms, conditions and fees of campers)
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
Staff are welcome to arrive on site anytime after 2:00pm on Saturday which will allow for plenty of time to unpack and settle in, but please keep in mind that supper will not be provided on this evening. There will be a mandatory orientation at 7:00pm. Staff will spend Saturday evening and Sunday morning together, connecting as a team and preparing for the week of camp.
Attending and leading together, as a husband and wife team (if applicable) for the duration of camp.
Responsible for the overall operation of the camp program. Accountable to the Manager, who oversees the overall operations of the facility.
Directors are encouraged to put together a welcome package to be waiting in camper accommodations upon arrival. Oshkidee can reimburse you up to $100. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need some ideas!
Lead all daily meetings and gatherings at camp (meals, staff meetings, morning sessions/chapel, Klish, variety night).
Enforce the policies of the camp committee.
Meet and welcome the campers as they arrive after 2:00pm on Sunday.
Conduct an "Ice Breaker" session Sunday evening (suggest 7:30pm start time).
Take photos of the camp families and ensure they are posted early in the week.
Find volunteer supervisors and instructors from among the campers for activities such as sailing, water skiing, kayaking, operating the boat, etc.
Designate a time period for instruction or boat operations.
Be responsible for the atmosphere in the dining hall.
Appoint cleanup crews for each meal time in the Chalet.
Appoint cleanup crews for common areas in the upper and lower Lodge each day.
Appoint crews to look after final cleanup in the camp.
Manage sales of merchandise and snacks in the tuck hut and advise the manager of any stock needs.
Directors are encouraged to designate time at the end of tuck for the sale of merchandise as this will keep the snack lines moving quickly and will allow for campers to try on merchandise without holding up the lines.
Lead Klish each evening. This will involve prayerful preparation, allowing the Holy Spirit to minister to the campers through song, scripture, sharing and prayer.
Instruct your campers to try to leave the premises by 10:00am Saturday.

Attend / host the staff debrief / weekly ministry closeout meeting.
Help fellow staff with accommodation inspections to ensure every room is ready for the next week of campers.
All staff MUST stay on site at the end of the week on Saturday until all jobs have been completed and the camp is ready to hand over to the next week. Report to the Manager prior to leaving the site; be prepared to stay until noon.

Be available to connect with and minister to the campers during the course of the week.
The Speaker will be accountable to the Director of the week. The Director fosters a godly, spiritual environment and assists the Speaker when required.
Attending Klish each evening, as husband and wife; be available to give support to the Directors in leading Klish and willing to actively participate in Klish.

PURPOSE:
To present God’s truth through His Word and activities while fostering an inclusive environment for the Oshkidee youth.
BENEFITS:
All meals and accommodations provided free of charge
Family Camp registration fees waived for you, your spouse and dependent children ages 0-18 (Any adult children (19+) are welcome to share your accommodations but they must register separately when registration opens to the public and will be subject to the same terms, conditions and fees of campers)
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

Both husband and wife must have valid criminal record checks - Camp Oshkidee will keep all criminal record checks on file for three years, after which point in time a new record check will need to be provided.
The role consists of exercising spiritual leadership and short term discipleship of Oshkidee youth through planning and carrying out a social event / wide-game and well planned, bible study each evening.
If you need to purchase craft supplies, Oshkidee can reimburse you up to $100.
The bible study will commence at 9:00pm each night and conclude by 11:00pm each night. Should the activity continue past 11:00pm, it will move to the lower level of the Chalet. Any youth activities after 11:00pm will be supervised by the parents of the youth.
Please note: Youth is reserved for campers age 12 (or 11 if going into grade 7) to 18 years old. The age parameters exist to ensure each camper receives age-appropriate teaching and an intentional camp experience.
Including individuals outside the defined age range can disrupt group dynamics and cause those who qualify to feel displaced.

Both husband and wife must have valid criminal record checks - Camp Oshkidee will keep all criminal record checks on file for three years, after which point in time a new record check will need to be provided.
The role consists of planning and carrying out a Bible based teaching session from 10:30am to noon, with children ranging in age from 4 to 11 years from Monday to Friday.
Each session shall include: praise and worship, prayer, Bible-based teaching.
You are encouraged to use variety in your sessions, adapting suitable activities to your lesson and teaching style. Keep in mind different ways that children experience and learn things (hearing, seeing, moving, touching, etc.) and incorporate them into your lessons.
We would like to encourage you to not have a craft heavy program. If you do a craft, we would like it to be related to your lesson. If you need to purchase craft supplies, Oshkidee can reimburse you up to $100.
Activity and interaction-based activities are encouraged to promote relationship building between the kids and workers. Playing a game together for the last bit of your morning is one idea for this. See that the children are handed off to their parents when sessions are finished.
You will want to have the children learn some things that they can present at the talent night on Thursday night. This most often has taken the form of singing or doing a skit.

The Children Workers will be accountable to the Director of the week. The Directors foster a godly, spiritual environment and assists the team when required.

to provide support and help lead the kitchen staff throughout the day to day operations and ensure seamless meal service each day.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
The Food Services Manager is required to be on site by 12:00pm on Saturday which will allow for plenty of time to unpack and settle in, but please keep in mind that lunch and supper will not be provided on this day. There will be a mandatory orientation at 7:00pm. Staff will spend Saturday evening and Sunday morning together, connecting as a team and preparing for the week of camp.
Attending and leading together, as a husband and wife team (if applicable) for the duration of camp
Lead the kitchen staff in devotions each morning.
Become familiar with the kitchen staff policies.
Oversee the work of the other kitchen staff.
Give advice and assistance to the kitchen staff when necessary.
Follow the menu established by the Food Services Director.
Discuss any changes if substitutions need to be made.
Ensure that the kitchen staff begins their duties on time.
Review the next day’s menu with the cooks. Encourage working ahead if possible while adhering to Food Safe best practices to ensure that the quality of meal service is not compromised.
Check the ovens and stoves before leaving the kitchen.
Receive the delivery of groceries.
Submit a weekly written report to the Food Services Director. Such reports are to include; number of campers, any complaints or suggestions for changes.
Be accountable to the Food Services Director.
Must designate a Head Cook to take over his or her responsibilities in the event of illness or the need to leave the site.
Report to the Director in the event of illness or a need to leave the site.
Attending Klish each evening and being willing to actively participate.

Possess a Food Safe Handling Certificate.

Due to limited accommodations, this position is commonly held alongside the Site Manager role by married couples. We also warmly welcome applications from single individuals. If your spouse would like to be considered for the Site Manager position, please indicate this on your form.

PURPOSE:
To oversee Family Camp operations such that facility and supplies are operational and sufficient for the benefit of all campers. Along with general oversight of the facility, attending to maintenance and repairs, the manager shall provide direct supervision of the Family Camp Director. The Manager shall work closely with the Director to ensure the goals and objectives of the ministry are not hindered by facility or personnel problems. The Manager will also be responsible for overseeing and supporting the work of our Caretaker. Finally, the Manager shall exercise final authority on all matters pertaining to the safe operation of the ministry within the framework of Board and Family Camp policies.

Be aware of and sensitive to the spiritual tone of the camp.
Be familiar with the facility systems and equipment:
Water
Sewer
Heating
Ski-boat
Sailboats etc.
Be familiar with and support any regulatory compliance matters:
Water testing
Food handling
Safe operations of watercraft and other equipment
Repair, or make arrangements to have repaired, any equipment that becomes unusable or broken and is deemed necessary for the safe and successful operation of the camping program.
Acquire any supplies that may be needed for the successful operation of the camping program:
Gas for the boat
Groceries for the Kitchen, Tuck Hut or campers. If the groceries cannot be charged (eg. To Co-op), pay out of pocket and submit receipts to camp for reimbursement.
Other supplies as needed: paper products, cleaning products, etc.
Supervise and support the work of the Family Camp Director.
Attend Manager/Director orientation prior to Camp.
Conduct on-site staff orientation on Saturday evening regarding camp policies.
Attend all staff meetings and ministry sessions when available to do so.
Support the Director in the enforcement of Family Camp policies.
Inform the Director of any instances of policy non-compliance that may need to be addressed.
Be available to consult with the Director when necessary.
Meet and welcome the campers as they arrive after 2:00pm on Sunday.
Train, test, and approve all ski-boat drivers.
Supervise and oversee the work of the Caretaker.
Represent the Board when required:
Health inspector
Wildlife Conservation Officers, RCMP
Park officials
Respond appropriately to any/all emergencies:
Notify appropriate authorities – 911, RCMP, Park Officials
Supervise emergency procedures and responses
Report to Board/Committee any critical incidents

Remain on site until the manager for the coming week has arrived and any concerns/issues have been discussed.
